PREPARING FOR THE WALK
This is a 13.5 mile walk through the countryside surrounding Cookham. Much of it is through woodland or along the banks of the River Thames. The route is not flat and the terrain is quite rugged in some places. Dependent on the weather, it could also still be very muddy in certain spots. As such, it is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
With this in mind, we ask that you think about the following well in advance of the walk:
1. Pre-walk training
We suggest that all participants do some training in advance of the walk. We have had a training program designed for us by

A good pair of lightweight, waterproof hiking boots is recommended. They need to be comfortable with good grips. Please don't wear a new pair for the first time on the walk as you could end up with all sorts of blisters!!
A pair of hiking socks is also recommended - they have better padding round the areas that can get rubbed after a decent length of walking.
